A Message from Mr. Alberta
Dear Midland School Families,
As the summer of 2019 starts to wind down and September approaches, I’d like to take this time to welcome everyone back for the2019-2020 school year. As with any new school year, change is inevitable, whether it’s a new staff, policy or procedure, programs, etc. Below you will find some important information for the upcoming school year.
During 2019-2020 school year we will be adding a number of new faces to Midland School. Each of these staff members bring their energy and experience to our building and our students. Here are some of the new faces you will see at Midland this year:
Ms. Lauren Menduke – 1st Grade
Ms. Tara Mizzoni – 4th Grade Science/Social Studies
Ms. Jordyn Kessler – K-2 Self Contained
Mr. Justin Kemp – Instrumental Music
Mrs. Nicole Barbarino – PT School Psychologist
Ms. Kaitlyn Leithauser – PT Occupational Therapist
Ms. Kristine Berta – Pre K Autistic Teacher
I am very excited to have each of these staff members join our Midland Family.
3rd Grade Happenings
The 2019-2020 school year presents a change for 3rd grade as we have moved to a self-contained format. Students in 3rd grade will now have the same teacher for all core subjects and will no longer switch classes for ELA, Mathematics, and Science/Social Studies. Additionally, Ms. Allison Hilla will be joining our 3rd grade team for the 2019-2020 school year.
Middle School Happenings
Each grade level, 6th 7th and 8th will now be broken down into 3 groups creating smaller sections for more concentrated learning opportunities. Additionally, we have eliminated the middle school homeroom period. Attendance and general homeroom activities will take place during your child’s 1st period class. The start time remains the same, however 1st period will be extended a few minutes to account for this change. Student schedules will be posted to Genesis by August 30, 2019.
With all of the amazing happenings going on, I am very excited for the start of the new school year. I hope you all enjoy the last few weeks of summer and I look forward to seeing you all on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th for our first day of school.
